Classic Rice Krispies Squares

Classic Rice Krispies Squares

I’ve got a quick recipe to share with you today that’s an easy and versatile treat for Easter — classic rice krispies squares! Now, you might think, do I even need a recipe for rice krispies squares, they’re so simple to make?! I learned after a brief search on Pinterest that there are loads of different recipes for rice krispies treats out there, and they all have different proportions of ingredients. With varied pan shapes and proportions of butter, marshmallows, and rice cereal, you will get very different squares from thin and crispy, to thick and chewy. I had some leftover marshmallows from our glamping holiday (more on that next week!), and I figured that making rice krispies squares for Easter would be a good way to use them up. Plus, who doesn’t love dessert with fun sprinkles?!

My top tips for making delicious rice krispies squares:

  1. Butter your pan and spoon!
  2. Add a bit of salt
  3. Go for extra marshmallows! I think my ratio was roughly 250g marshmallow to 150g cereal.
  4. Sprinkles add a fun crunch
  5. Chill for at least 1 hour
  6. Generic rice pops cereal works just as well!
