Raised Bed Vegetable Garden

I thought it would be fun to do a virtual tour of my vegetable garden for 2020! This is the first year I’ve grown a garden, and I wasn’t intending on growing more than a few…Continue Reading

  • Happy Friday! I'm spending this weekend walking, reading, and planting potatoes at the allotment! Hopefully the UK has warmer weather on the horizon - snow in April is crazy! What are your weekend plans?

On my blog this week I've got reviews of all the books I read this winter. I was impressed by how many 5🌟 reads I picked up. All of these books were worthwhile, and hopefully some of these recommendations suite your reading tastes! If you've read any of these books, let me know your thoughts!

  • It's Good Friday and I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend of eating, walking, and gardening! What are your Easter plans?

Today I made cinnamon rolls, which turned out amazingly well (so fluffy)! For baking inspiration this holiday weekend, head over to my blog for this week's post on 5 Non-traditional Baking Recipes for Easter.

I've got recipes for bundt cake, beetroot cake, cornbread, sourdough muffins, and an 18thC caraway seed cake. Oh, and the cinnamon bun recipe is also linked in that post!

Have a great Easter and happy baking!

  • March was a crazy month! Work was manic, and Wilbur has been keeping us up at night, so we're all exhausted. We've been busy with the new allotment, and I was busy finishing Climate School.

My reading time definitely took a hit last month, and I only read one book! Well, technically two books as I finished The Human Planet, which I started in January.

The Seven Or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna was our book club pick for March. I recommended it thinking it would be a fantastical historical fiction. This book has some very traumatic themes, and was much sadder than I anticipated. However, it was absolutely brilliant! Juliet Grames is a beautiful writer and I was blown away that this masterpiece is her debut novel.

If you love epic historical fiction (story about an Italian woman, her family, and their emigration to America) then I'm sure you'll enjoy this book as much as I did. 5🌟s and a book I won't soon forget!

I'll do a wrap up of the books I read over winter on my blog in a couple of weeks.

What did you read in March?

  • On my blog this week I'm talking all about our new allotment! I discuss the history of allotments, why and how we got an allotment, and what we've been up to the past month to prepare the ground for planting.
